Let’s Glow is a public family-friendly festival. Please use PG as an appropriate standard for clothing, including text and art on clothing.
All attendees must wear enough clothing to comply with the laws and regulations in the City of Fremont, Alameda County, or State of California.
Sensitive areas must not only be covered, but there should be enough structure in the garment to prevent costume malfunctions, such as those from a dancer’s belt, or a similar structure in other undergarments.
A cosplayer in full cosplay and related props and accessories, must be able to comfortably enter and exit a standard door without help. In other words, an attendee in cosplay should be able to move around a public area like our venue freely.
If you have a cosplay that is huge, oversized, or may impede hallways or walkways, please reach out to us at bartcontest@craftysorceress.com at least a week before the event, considered on a case-by-case basis. For your safety and the safety of those around you, unapproved, overly large, and bulky costumes are not allowed.
Cosplayers must wear adequate shoes/footwear for the event. For cosplaying characters that appear as though they’re barefoot, please get adequate footwear that appears clear, but still provides footwear support.
Cosplays must not interrupt, harm or bother any attendees. We value cosplays as an ambassador for the hobby to the general public. For everyone’s safety, the following are prohibited:
Debris: including the release of smoke, confetti, bubbles, or similar materials
Intense visual effects: such as blinding, extremely bright, or strobe lighting
Loud audio: including speakers or devices playing sounds at high volume
Strong scents or smoke: including smoke machines, heavy fragrances, or any form of emitted smoke
Hate speech of any type (Political, non-political, quotes, etc.) will not be permitted at Let’s Glow in any way. Hate Speech is defined as “abusive or threatening speech or writing that expresses prejudice on the basis of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or similar grounds.” ~ Oxford Dictionary.
Even if the cosplay does not break the rules above, Let’s Glow’s staff and the police have the final say on the issue, and can ask an attendee to change their clothing on an individual basis.
Props Policy
As per the request of the local police, please do not bring weapons of any sort(fake, real, or even cartoonish-looking) to this event. This is a free, public family-friendly event, and even the silliest looking of weapons can pose a public risk.
Since this is a free, public event, we do not have any security check beyond the police.
Even if your prop is not a weapon, please do not swing props, for the safety of those around you. This event was packed last year, and we don’t want anyone hurt over a prop.
